Who Zembl works with and why: How we select energy retailers

Not every retailer makes the cut. We partner with energy retailers that put customers first and deliver real value. Here is our selection framework, how we assess partners, and a quick look at why we work with each retailer on our panel.

Our partnership principles

Zembl’s approach is built on putting our customers first, trust, and transparency. We believe in long‑term relationships where everyone wins: our customers, our partners, and Zembl. Every partnership is based on a genuine value exchange where collaboration and honesty lead to better results for all, especially our customers. A variety of partners ensures we have products to suit different business needs.

How we select retailers

  • Competitive value: Strong, market‑aligned pricing with clear fees and contract terms.
  • Service quality: Fast quoting, reliable onboarding, accurate billing, and responsive support.
  • Customer fit: Products suited to small businesses and to commercial and industrial users, not one size for all.
  • Compliance and credibility:  Approved by the regulators to sell energy (the right licences), complaint handling, and fair dispute processes.
  • Data security: Secure data transfer and privacy controls.

Additional considerations, where applicable

  • Sustainability options: Carbon neutral or renewable products with transparent terms and costs.
  • Loyalty or value adds Rewards programs or bundled benefits that suit business needs.
  • Local presence: Australian ownership or locally based support teams, where this matters to customers.

How we keep standards high

  • Regular reviews: We monitor how competitive and complete quotes are, transfer times, and billing quality.
  • Customer outcomes: We gather ongoing feedback about the customer experience.
  • Continuous fit check: If a partner isn’t meeting our standards, we work together to resolve it. And when necessary, we’ll pause referrals until everything is back on track.

Our current retailer panel and why we work with them

Retailers we work with

  • AGL: Australia’s largest electricity generator and one of the largest retailers, with wide coverage and customer service.
  • Blue NRG: Business specialist with dedicated products for our shared customers, including Blue Zembl for new customers and Blue ReZembl for renewals. 100% Australian owned and operated.
  • ENGIE: Offers benefits beyond pricing. For example, Business Flyer plans that earn Velocity points (3 points for every $1 paid for electricity and 30,000 sign up points). Selected plans include carbon neutral at no additional cost.
  • EnergyAustralia: Australia’s third‑largest retailer with electricity and gas coverage, and goals toward net zero.
  • Flo Energy: Focus on renewable energy, and technology that provides energy insights to help manage costs.
  • Momentum: Owned by Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest renewable generator. Selected plans include 10% GreenPower at no additional cost.
  • Nectr: Backed by Hanwha Energy, a global renewable energy company, with a commitment to renewables and customer service.
  • Next Business Energy: 100% Australian owned and operated, based in Melbourne. Focused on servicing business customers.
  • Origin: One of Australia’s largest retailers with wide coverage and availability, combined with strong customer service.
  • Shell Energy: Customer service focus, ranked first for customer satisfaction among large commercial and industrial retailers, and investing in renewables.
  • SmartestEnergy: Focus on renewable energy and a dedication to net zero, and being a global energy leader.
  • Veolia: Commitment to sustainability, including converting waste to electricity, with dedicated products for our shared customers.

How this helps customers

  • Choice with clarity: A panel that covers different needs, from small sites to complex portfolios.
  • Balanced decisions: We focus on price and service, with sustainable options where available.
  • Faster outcomes: Established partner processes cut lead times and keep things moving.

A note on neutrality

We keep retailer descriptions even and consistent. Many partners share strengths such as renewables, service, and coverage. Language here reflects that, and our panel may evolve as products and performance change.
